I'm currently running resonators only. Got rid of the muffler about 4 yrs ago and lost the cats about 6 months ago. The sound with resonators only is a deeper rumbly idle, some moderate resonance accelerating between 30 - 45 mph, and quiet at highway cruising speeds. I find the more aggressive sound an improvement over stock, but that is just my subjective opinion. Can't speak for cats, muffler and no resonators.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] CAT/Resonator Question
Hi guys I have a question about the cats and the resonators on my car. Im gona go to the muffler shop in a few days to get the resonators taken off my car. What I wanted to know is can I get better sound by having the cats removed and keeping the resonators or keeping the cats and removing the resonators? Oh and I have a 84 Euro 500SEC so the cats where put on when it came to the US they look more like they belong on a ford or gm than a Mercedes.
Thanks for the Help,
