Jay I guess I'm getting to old. I misread the your W lisying for an H that's why I wrote what I did. I also have the speed rating chart from the Tire Rack.. So sorry for any confusion I may have produced. Maybe in the future I should just read and keep my mouth shut. What is that old adage "it is better to keep ones' mouth shut and appear a fool than to open it and remove all doubt".
Andy, Here is the speed rating info direct from the TireRack. Since our cars are rev limited to 250km/h (155mph) I felt the W rating was more than safe.
Jay one question, and others may want to consider this also: Why put W rated ( max. speed 130) tires on a great car easily capable of 145 MPH plus and with very expensive wheels when the V rated (149 MPH) tires do not cost that much more? Just curious, that's all.
I have a '91 560 SEC, lowered and run 17 X 81/2 Carlson wheels and 245 x 45 17 V rated tires, just a wee bit of a safety factor even though we may never drive at the max. speed the car is capable of---seems the police take a dim view of this ;-))> I guess they do not appreciate a great car.
