[W126 Coupe] Rear Windoe Shade

My 90 560SEC is equiped with the rear window shade.  The car only has 52K miles on it and it is in an impacible shape, but the shade has never worked for me (bought it used).  Does anyone have any suggestion as to where I should start looking to get the shade working?
