I'm going with altitude correction. The service manual description says 
located in the passenger foot well, even though the photo they provide 
looks more it is behind the false firewall near the diagnostic connector.

In any case, the other two would need for some hose to be connected, and 
there are no loose ends in sight in the foot well. Interesting idea: I 
wonder how performance might be changed by applying vacuum or pressure 
to the open port?
