You could also check your Owner's Manual. I believe (but am not positive) that all NA W126s came with an Alarm System. There are no visible indications that it is installed on your car. I think there is a way you could test it. Maybe roll down your driver's window, close the door and lock the car from the outside. Then reach thru the window and open the door. Alarm should go off.
