That "thing" that you describe sounds like something called the cruise
control dump valve.
I'm only guessing. It could also be an alarm system transducer trigger that
senses air pressure changes as the doors are opened or closed. I don't
remember seeing it. Now I'm curious and I'm going to take a look.

OK, next question: In the passenger foot well, to the right of the alarm
electronics module, there is what looks like an air valve with an
electrical connector. Problem is, the valve seems to only have one air
port, and no tubing -- just vented to free air!

What might it do? Thanks!
