Really sounds like fun!! Good luck in getting it done as quick as you'd
like.
Sorry I missed you in Vegas, I got volunteered to be in Fort Wayne, IN.
Later,
Mike R.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Crash Repairs 300SE Euro
Well the fellow that trashed my front end on the 300se euro insurance
has paid for the repairs. I am now doing most of the work myself and
I've decided to completely renew a number of other parts while I am at it.
Luckily the euro bumper was not even scratched. So, I am replacing the
following:
bumper chrome mending plate
front grill, insert and seal
passenger euro headlamp lens and interior plastic surround (I've chromed
this plastic bezel on both sides as I did in the SEC to eliminate the
gray finish)
new side markers, probably will go with clears
renewed the bumper hanger arms and rubber
As for the extras I had planned on anyway they included both new front
fenders. They had rust in places you could not see but, I had spare
perfect fenders from a 500sel with the jams I had painted last year
ready for this spring and so they get done now.
One used perfect interior fender surround.
New pin stripping
Every nick and scratch removed from the door panels, I did the Ding
removal of the entire car last year so it's just fine scratches and one
paint chip
new fender to bumper rubber seals
new urethane panel fender nylon inserts and clips
new tow hook cover euro (the most expensive part so far!)
Where I replaced the hood and then painted hood & trunk lid last year
after my son's deer hunting efforts using this Mercedes I will now just
shoot all the side panels. The lower urethane panels and both bumpers I
painted last fall when I sandblasted and renewed the 16 inch 7.5J 9
hole rims and added 16X50X235 sport tires.
The result is a perfect looking (Zero rust) MB shell and chassis. The
cost for parts and the painting I am doing in my friends brand new spray
booth is under $500 so far and it looks like I get to make a really nice
contribution to my daughters college fund.
The coupe and this sedan look factory in and out now. Only mechanical
is the installation of the new CC actuator and amplifier. For once, I
was not screwed over and I feel quite satisfied with the results.
Thank you to Jonathan for hunting down some of these hard to get parts
for me.
Dick
