MessageI had the same problem with oil dripping on exhaust manifold. New valve cover gaskets cured the problem.

Not to be argumentative, but I have seen head gasket oil leaks on Chevy 400's, Chevy 454, BMW's, Renaults, Saabs 4cyl in line and most commonly on VW 4cyl inline Diesels.

A head gasket retorque has solved the problem 85% of the time.

In 40 years of playing with cars I have yet to have an oil leak from a head gasket...

I would go by a oe valve cover gasket and redo the valve cover. Its a 10 minute job and cheap.

I'd put a small wager that your oil leak problem started about a year ago!

No valve covers were redone about a year back..I see you r point on the head gaskets as the location would not be conducive to the burn off I am getting.

The rear main may be leaking as well.

Anyway anything to slow it would be better than nothing

Any suggestions on a good engine stop leak additive?

Engine is very strong and I would rather not rebuild at this time. No need she runs great.

Heads gasket leaks are causing some smoking when sitting at lights etc. due to dripping to the pipes.

Would like to try to slow it down a little if anyone has some ideas.

Thank you,
