That's interesting, Jonathan. I knew that the MLs had quite a  
checkered history of various bits and pieces, but hadn't heard of  
many problems with the drive system itself. Heard that the later  
4MATIC system was much simplified and had few problems. Maybe it is  
quite different than the ML system?

As far as the S-class, I too would think long and hard before buying  
one, and would have to have some sort of extended warranty.
