Hello Robert,
Not sure you can get sport shocks for our 126's.. I deal w/ Bilstein/have their catalog and I don't see any listing for sports on a 126, only the 124/201 etc..

You'll want to check the rear springs on your car, make sure they were swapped out as the SLS springs are not designed to carry the car w/o the assistance of the hyd. system.

I've been installing/selling HD's for years and haven't had someone come back displeased yet!

Jonathan,
Here's the extract from the Bilstein catelogues (from the Bilstein website)

B4 Gas Catelogue
W126
500 SE, 500 SEL, 380 SEC - 500 SEC (Front) B36 - 1183 (Rear) B46 - 1184
560 SE 85 - 91 560 SEL, 560 SEC (Front) B36 - 1183

B6 Sport Catelogue:
S- Klasse (C126) Coupe 2WD

3.8SEC, 4.2SEC, 5.0SEC 07.79- 91 (Front) B36-0501 S A (Rear) B46-0511 S A
5.6SEC 07.79- 91 (Front) B36-0501 S A

B8 Sprint catalogue:
S- Klasse (C126) Coupe 2WD
3.8SEC, 4.2SEC, 5.0SEC 07.79- 91 (Front) B36-1535 1 S A (Rear) B46-1536 S A

Obviously the B8 Sprint fits the 560SEC, it just isn't listed as such in the catalogue though if the other shocks fit either 560 or 500 then I don't see how the Sprint shocks wouldn't fit and work OK as well.

But I'm interested in the Sports version, the B6 Sports which iI think corresponds with the HD you speak of. The international catalogue numbers seem to be as I've listed though in the USA they may be known just as 'HD'.

I realised I needed new shocks (or something) after I had new tyres fitted and took the car for a spin. The vehicle had recaps fitted to the front when I bought it so I didn't like to run it at speed. I had Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (265/35/18 and 235/40/18) and took it for a run - at 200km around a sweeping right hander it became a bit unstable and 'bounced' noticeably between the front left and rear right. Upon inspection by suspension specialists it was found that the front left was leaking and was also a bit soft, so I'm having the fronts and possibly the rears replaced (original hydraulic units were removed by a previous owner). I'm also getting tie rod ends and ball joints replaced.

And I'm in Australia where descriptions of shock absorber models may be different from the USA, though they would be the same in the international catalogue I used. I can supply the PDF catalogue files if you wish.

Robert
