Hi,

While I'm on the topic (don't know if this is useful to anybody) but
after months of adjustment, I have found the following settings on the
Becker Mexico Diversity (Model 839) to be optimal - if you like a fairly
flat response across the frequency range. As mentioned earlier, the
default
settings sound quite terrible (real 1980s flat sound to it) but I
have mine
set to:

For FM Receiption

Treble: +2.5 increments (Up)
Bass: +1.5 increments (Down)

Visually shown as:

For Tape (iPod cassette adaptor, 4th gen iPod with
EQ settings turned off)

Treble: +2 increments (Up)
Bass: (Neutral)

Visually shown as:

I am a demanding listener, and very happy with these settings across
most types of music, especially demanding electronic/ambient, as well as
jazz (Miles Davis, Stan Getz, etc). I am now a happy listener. Anybody
else also fairly demanding listeners, yet very happy with the stock
system?

Also, one technical question: Does anybody know why the system, above
a particular
(medium-loud) volume level, audibly filters out more bass (it's quite
distinct if you turn
up the volume slowly) ? Depending on your settings, it sounds "just
right" either above, or
below, this volume level, but not both.

Dawid

P.S> There can't be many cars almost 20 years old which has standard
subwoofers fitted
to the doors, yet have no bass-induced door rattles at high volumes :-)
