[W126 Coupe] Climate control pushbutton rebuilder?

Yeah, even the defrost won't work. Also, if I hit a bump, the whole
system will shut off (in a US 380, you can really feel it when the A/C
compressor shuts off) for about a second and come back on again. I'm
guessing it's what you're saying, a bad solder joint, but I don't have
my soldering iron at school, plus the sticker on the temp wheel is
fairly buggered up so I figure I'll just get a rebuilt one from George
Murphy.

Richard;

Exactly what doesn't work on the climate control? Does the fan fail to
come on until you "slam" the buttons a few times, even the "defrost"
button? Don't get too brutal with them because this might not be the
pushbuttons at all.

When you take the climate control unit out, remove the bottom cover
plate on the main control unit to expose the back of the printed circuit
board. (Pops off easily) Examine the solder connections along the
edges where the board connects to the twelve pronged plugs (both sides).
Frequently one of those solder joints is cracked and makes intermittent
contact. In particular check the connection to the board behind pin 12
on the left side (temp wheel side - remember, it's upside down now). I
believe that is the power input and if that one connection fails neither
the fan nor the climate control unit will work. Re-solder that
connection and everything will work again.

I remember one of the members was praising a Benz electronics
rebuilder for providing a good and fairly priced pushbutton unit. Anyone
know who the person to buy these from is? Mine is starting to bug out
(started by buzzing every now and then, now perodically I have to slam
the off and A/C buttons repeatedly - or defrost or vent etc - to get it
to catch, so when it finally dies totally I'd like to know in advance
who to buy from.
	Thanks,
	Richard
