Don't I remember something about a list member putting 2.82:1 in his
380? What car did those come off of?

No, will not.

The S Class diesel cars (81-85) rear diff carrier is different from the
gas cars. The diesel cars used a diff holding 1.0 L of fluid. The S
Class gas cars (81-85) used a 1.3L rear diff. While the bolts to the
suspension are the same, they are different housings relative to the
halfshafts.

Could possibly work if you swapped out the half shafts together with the
diff but no promises.
