The reason I mentioned low voltage is that the exact same thing happened to me a few times before the alternator had to be replaced. It would happen as I reached an almost full stop with the AC running and the lights and wipers on. (Engine at idle, high electrical load = not enough voltage output)

The ABS warning light aside, in Jack's case, I'd be more concerned about his description of the brakes' tendency to be grabbing, unnerving noises or otherwise behaving oddly as the car is grinding to the final stop. (But maybe that will go away too.)

I had this problem with my 85 380 sec and found that with the engine off pump the brake pedal a few times then the light would not come on anymore. some sort of reset.
