[W126 Coupe] New Calipers on SEC

 Well, Rusty has them for about $250 each which sounds outrageous but I guess parts for our cars are getting more and more expensive.  So I guess you weren't really "ripped off". Typically, I've had to replace calipers when either they start leaking, or they seize.  You know they seize because either one pad (or both) on one caliper wear out faster than on the other one, this is a sign they are sticking and not releasing.  I'm not sure about the 380, but on the 560 the brake pad replacement is one of the easiest tasks I've ever done.  You may want to look into doing it yourself next time.  Even the calipers aren't difficult to replace. They corrode & leak with age. If you have to top up your brake fluid it is leaking out somewhere, maybe at the calipers. They can be reconditioned by boring out the corrosion & fitting sleeves. This is usually cheaper. Jack Oz
