[W126 Coupe] Small miss in my 89 560 SEC and window seals

Hi Doug:

You need the shop to dig further before entertaining another fuel
distributor. Could be many different reasons, just takes time and a
process to unearth the miss. Have they gone over all of the electrics,
checked the O2, checked the lambda, done all of the basics? How often
do you drive the car, has it sat for a while? Does the fuel mix have
ethanol? Could just be some break down of the fuel if it did sit and
you've got a bit of water in the fuel. Lots of possibilities. Just
need a good shop to sort this aggravating miss out.

On the rear window outer brush for the coupe, you are right it's only
sold as a complete inner/outer seal with the rubber wrap around at the
door column. I faced the same problem when they were $140 each and did
the following. Checked that the inner seal (brush) was in good shape
and that the door column rubber was intact. Carefully lifted and cut
with tin snips the outer brush from the whole original assembly and then
replaced the coupe window outer brush with a new outer brush purchased
for the front door glass outer seal. This required trimming the new
piece to closely fit the former shape and angles of the coupe window. I
also sealed the cut edges to prevent any moisture or rust from forming.
Cost was under $20 per side at that time a few years back.

Hope that at least this helps a bit with one of the problems.

Regards,

Dick
