[W126 Coupe] Question re distributor vacuum connection

My '81 has the single connection - it is the '83 that I'm looking at.  The
vacuum leads are broken and I will have to try to figure out what the
switching valve looks like.

Hi Ian:

Which model year are you looking at, 81 or 83??? The early distributor 
vacuum diaphragms had the two vacuum lines that are connected through a 
switchover valve to the intake manifold. One for ignition advance and 
the other for ignition retard. The switching valve determines which one 
is active. Best to read up on the specifics to the model year in section 
15-502 of the manual. If you don't have the manual, try
