Hi Vince and others in need of a driver's side foot rest. I would
suggest that even if you can not find the right color match that as a
last resort you dye it. It's more work but, can be done. I replaced
the driver's foot rest in my 300SE Euro with burgundy red interior by
swapping one from my parts 90 300SE creme beige interior.
Simply clean it up, sand with 220, wipe with grease/wax remover or
lacquer thinner if you don't have the exact g/w solvent and then brush
on the stain. Wipe up any drips where the stain is thin before it
sets. I applied (3) coats. It looks great and it's been through a
winter or two since I did the work.
I used the same dye kit with leftover stain from the 3 inch by 1 inch
driver's seat patch job that I did. I think the source was either Magic
Mender or Leather Magic. You can spray it on if preferred using an air
brush or Preval Sprayer.
