First get a young priest and an old priest.... Just kidding...
If the original radio doesn't work then your antenna will not operate either as it's switched through the radio as well as the switch on the dash.
Check fuses and switches...
As far as the switch removal from the wood panel, I've replaced my hazard switch without removing the wood panel, ashtray, radio and all... If you take a small Swiss army knife and wedge it at the top of switch and wood panel, this will release plastic catch at the top. It should come out easily.
Careful not to damage the wood... Damage to the switch was not my concern as I was replacing it anyway.
Good luck,
Sam

hi guys,
I also have an antennae question . My power antennae goes up and down by itself ( especially when the car is parked in the garage with no key in it).But when i'm driving, and i try to turn it on by pressing the switch, it doesnt respond .I took out the motor to see if s'thing but it seemed like nothing was broken in it.Do any of you guys have any ideas why it acts like that? It isthe original hirschman antennae.
Could it be a faulty antenna switch ? or a broken wire somewhere ? It still has the original becker radio ( even though it doesnt work anymore). Please advise

Hi guys,
Can anyone walk me through the process of taking my antennae switch off and cleaning it? I have a feeling that my antennae problem is from my switch because my rear window defroster doesnt stick either. Does anyone know why ? Do i have to remove the wooden panel ? if so how do i go about it.
