Chris,
A package of handy schematics is a terrific idea.
I too have a background in electronics. I also I have a dead bosch and
Seimens EZL on the
shelf that I have wanted to rebuild but I just have not had the time to
research it,
undo the torx screws and grind off the rivets.
I;m looking forward to your details of your explorations.

Robert said, "What I need is a circuit diagram of the CIS-E itself, or any
similar CIS-E device (one of the Porches used the same unit?). I can then
test my theories quickly and simply, as electronics is my area of
expertise."
This seems like an important issue for this group to put their collective
minds to work on. The electronic components in these cars are going to wear
out and need replaced and we all know the cost issue.
Does anyone know if Siemens or Bosch still produce our EZLs or do 'new' ones
come from a rapidly depleting stockpile?
We should try to put together a collection of schematics relevent to these
cars. We should also document common electronic fixes, work arounds and
modifications.
Collecting modern cars requires an adeptness at electronics not needed with
older machines.

Chris Schafer
