as mentioned in my original piece, I unplugged the EHA and the problem went. But the CIS-E (KE) unit could no longer have an effect (it does its business via the EHA).
Without the O2 sensor, the KE unit still performs many functions and has plenty of other sensors including engine temperature, throttle valve switch, car speed sensor, rev sensor, air conditioner compressor clutch, altitude sensor and so on and performs functions such as spiking rich when you dab the throttle, enriching the mixture as the revs rise, going full lean when you take the foot off the throttle, and limiting max revs to around 6,200RPM.
