That is the exact reason people think they can get
away with violent crimes.  That the majority of people
will just give up.  Remember the movie "The
Untouchables" They pull a knife, you pull a gun, they
send one of yours to the hospital, you send one of
theirs to the mourge.  If a criminal knows he is going
to have a fight to try and get what he wants, the
majority will go after someone else that will not put
up a fight.
