[W126 Coupe] Heater Blower Motor

Hi Bellamy,

Opposite to your problem, my blower motor refuses to stop running when the climate system is off, but it may give a clue about yours. Mine actually runs perfectly normal in any other running positions, but just goes to lowest speed when the OFF button is pushed, but never stops. My mechanic's diagnosis was that the resistor was bad, but both because I wasn't convinced and it is too expensive a part, I just chose to live with it for now.

I have no idea why Hein is referring to is his pet (:p) about your blower motor, so this is my 2 cents...

  Bellamy,
  Don't know why, but I had the same problem a few years back. I ended up changing the porcupine and the motor started working again.

  While doing this I did fool around with all the wires in the passenger footwell, so it may have been a bad connection somewhere.

  I can't remember what I read and where, but I replaced the porcupine because of some recommendation that I picked up somewhere. It worked. Coincidence?

    All;

    I have another electrical problem looking for an answer.

    The blower stopped running, to the best of my knowledge while I was driving. There is no power at the motor now. The climate control system has had no problems up until that point.

    The motor never made any rude noises, ran silently and smoothly

    The fuse is OK

    The fan (motor) runs fine (put 12v to the motor),

    The blower control unit - fan speed controller is OK (switched with a known good unit)

    Does anybody have experience with the push button controls failing or the climate control unit itself? What other components have control over the motor power supply? Appreciate any ideas..........

    -Bellamy
