Hi Rick;

I doubt it's the relay but, you could swap it out to see if it clears 
the problem.  I'd be more inclined to start by checking the pressure 
switch on the receiver/dryer when the compressor is running and again 
when the compressor cuts out.  If you have a set of gauges they will 
quickly tell you if the refrigerant circuit has a problem.
