[W126 Coupe] Outside Temperature Display Wiring Question

Hi Clay:

So Dan nailed down the two remaining cables with the complete 
schematic.  #1 on my 86 goes to fuse #7 and provides the +12VDC.  Where 
does #4 then connect to provide illumination, the headlamp circuit??? Or 
is illumination needed in the day time as well to read the gauge???  In 
either case where do you physically attach that lead?
