If it's loud David than I'd presume it's been in there over 100k miles
or more and may be failing to keep up with the fuel pressure once it's
been running a while. I'd ask your mechanic to replace it. You can get
one from Jonathan or Rusty. Put a new fuel filter with 4 crush washers
in there while you are at it.
If you want a formal test you'll have to set up a fuel pressure gauge
per the manual to see what it's reading.
