[W126 Coupe] Odd, speed variable, sound

No, not exhaust. It will do it even with the engine off, the car simply has to be rolling, so it's either something in the front axles, or pat goss suggested front flex disk. Can the front flex disk be it?

Hi Richard:  I put Jeckyl to bed.  Could be your exhaust has a leak. 
The description is so general it's hard to put a finger on it.  If it's
the exhaust this is doubly true.
