Hi Rick:

I had the same problem on the 86 300SE Euro.  A really rough ride.  
Replaced the sub-frame mounts (easy) and the differential mount (easy) 
and then where I still had what appeared to be a slight dip in the rear, 
replaced the springs.  Ride is as just as smooth as can be now.  
Jonathan set me up with the new parts and I built a simple tool for 
doing the sub-frame mounts.

That AMG may well have a stiff ride by design too.
