Hi Greg:

The mono-valve repair kit is $40 or so from Jonathan or Rusty on this
list. I'd do it yourself if you are inclined. Time will be under 1
hour even for the shop. Depending on the year of your SEC (83-85 it's
right there in between the firewalls next to the battery and easy to get
at) (86 and up and you have to move/lift one item bolted/screwed to the
firewall that sits just over the mono-valve head). With the repair kit
the valve housing stays put and you just lift the old head out of the
valve and drop then screw the new head with plunger in. I'd degunk the
valve housing with a bit of compressed air to remove any sludge or use a
hose with water or a rag if you can reach in there. There's a simple
electrical connection on the head that you un-plug with the typical
squeeze to release MB clip. In either case it's no big deal to get
this done with a screw driver and 1/4 drive metric socket set and you'll
lose no more than an ounce or two of coolant in the process.

How's the dealer going to repair the system leak he found??/ Just curious.
