On my '91 there is a horizontal plastic insert into the soft part of the 
dash that must be pried out. Go gently, it WILL come out without damage. 
Yours may not have it, as mine is the no-glove-box model.

You can also get to it by kneeling on the floor outside the car.

On the '91 there are two connectors, a 3-wire to the fan speed control 
module (note finned heat sink) and a 2-wire to the blower itself. Note a 
slot down the middle of the heat sink fins, a rib in the cover has to 
fit in that slot for reassembly.

Yep! And while you are under there check the little aspirator fan tucked 
up under the right side. It should have a rubber hose to it, that's how 
fresh air is drawn across the temperature sensor in the overhead switch 
compartment. You can take it out and apply 12 Volts DC to make sure it 
spins freely.
