Not to mention don't even bother trying to price a new one. Those
control arms must be made of gold or something, though they aren't too
bad used.

Not a problem all sel and se hubs will work.  If you do not have abs
even a
w123 hub will work.  I done the same thing to my sec a few years back.
If you strip the rear hub out than you are done, you need to get an
entire new lower control arm, and they are a pain to install and take
out.
