Figment,
A 560 engine is not a straightforward swap for a 380.
You'd have to change over EVERYTHING. You might as well go the whole hog and
put in an M119 instead.
If I remember correctly, the pre-85 500 engine is a straight drop-in. Might
be the way to go.
Cheers,
Axel

Subject: Re: [W126 Coupe] 560 SEC engine
What's a good price for a used 560 SEC engine? This is presuming an unknown
mileage, but just the words, "very clean".
What should I look for? What should I try to avoid? I am wanting to put a
560 engine into my 380 SEC. The reason is that my 380 SEC's camshaft,
journal header screws are stripped and the work to fix it may equal that to
just replace the engine.
Is it possible to put a 560 engine into a 1982 380 SEC?
Can the A/C compressor, ecu, alternator, starter fit from the 380 work on
the 560? Do I need to change the transmission as well?
I'd appreciate the helpful suggestions.
