[W126 Coupe] What model year did the shift gate change on the SEC?

I only know that the '86 - '89 shifter is not interchangeable with the '90
-'91.

I got a burlwood unit for an '86 - '89 and found that I could not engage 1st
gear (B) with it in my '90 SEC.

It went in quite smoothly and I was able to use it for all the gears, 2
through Park, except for B.

Hello MBCoupes types:

Does anyone know in which year the access to the shift selector hold 
down nut was changed?  I have to change out a shift selector on an 85 
SEC 5.0AMG.
