Ooooh! Bellamy, your remarks are a bit sharp! It was just a question not a position paper you know?
I am satisfied with my SEC as is and am not likely to consider either an engine swap or the great big cartoon wheels that are in fashion. (But I do fantasize about custom paint and some retro metalwork.)
I think the grand old MB V8 will do me fine and last for the duration of my stewardship to boot.
Who needs it anyway? Any old litre bike or sportbike will always be able to smoke off most hot rodded or tuned cars and I can still swing a leg over the saddle of my rice burner.
Love the coupe as is but do find the swap ideas intellectually interesting.
See you at the races,
Chris
Chris,
> I agree entirely.
> However, why would you want the rest of the Benz shit hanging off that nice engine? Like intermittent wipers that only have two speeds; too fast and too slow. And leather seats that feel like arborite. Or power mirrors only on one side. Or brake calipres that cost $289.99 each rather than $21.95 like they should. Or grills that cost $600.00 instead of $4/lin. ft at Home Depot. Why keep all of that expensive non-functional German trash?
> You can buy a pretty little Cavalier for $100 anywhere, throw a few hundred dollars into the engine and have something truly awesome. Fat tires on the front. It all costs peanuts to do (comparitively speaking) and you likely can beat the piss out of some kids with their hairy Hondas, probably really kick ass in the Focus crowd for personal thrills.
> What does it cost to squeeze a paltry 65 hp more from your old 560 Benz Bowzer? I have no idea, but it would be more than buying a significant ownership position in General Motors these days for sure!
