Why use 20 year old technology here? There are lots of engines that are just
as reliable and make MUCH more power. Does it absolutely have to say
"Mercedes" on the parts? Getting "Mercedes" added to the valve covers isn't
hard though. :-)

How about a Roush 402? LS1 or LS6? 400HP is not hard nor particularly
expensive today, unless it involves anything Mercedes Benz. 400HP from an
LS1 (maybe $2500 used) involves a camshaft (maybe $200), an LS6 intake
($300) and a good set of headers (maybe $300). Plus there are California Air
Resource Board approved superchargers that can be just bolted on - how about
600hp with an engine that can use a stock SEC hood and pass anybody's
emissions tests?

Let's make a DRIVER out of the 380!!
