[W126 Coupe] Locking system

Took mine apart 3 years ago and cleaned it, cost... 2 hours, still works great, it has some fine orifices that were filled with some kind of tarry crude. If you clean, be careful, lots of small fine parts.

  Barry,

I have 1983 500sec and I had the same issue. Doors would start to lock & un-lock on their own... and I had to purchase a new vac pump in the trunk. Problem solved. although the part alone cost me over $ 500.00 new (from dealer). It works great now... back to normal. This was replaced about 6 months ago.

If you don't get it corrected soon you may also have battery trouble as mine would start locking & unlocking all night long!

  Clay

Many Thanks to everyone that responded, my thought was
from experience seems everytime I ttry to fix
something I need a mercedes tool. As to the cost
mentioned paid $557.00 with shipping for both seats
complete, head rest, arm rest. Have some experience
with Corvett seats and the quality for these is quite
good. Just one problem they do not have the
    proforations in the center panel.

I have a locking problem with the system. When I lock the drivers side
door all areas lock. After a bit the

Passenger door, fuel door and truck start locking and unlocking. I
assume the vacuum motor in the spare

Wheel area is bad. Any comments? This is on an "83" 380, which could be
    different than the 560"s

    Hi Barry,

Wouldn't you think, given that the locks function at fist, then start acting
strangely, that it is more likely a control issue... rather than vacuum supply?

Here's a function diagram for the central locking for consideration.
