Hello mbcoupes,
As a 560SEC owner from Sydney I have downloaded many ideas from this web

You go out and pay money for a newspaper, do you read it from cover to
cover? I think not, There is a lot of stuff there that you have no
interest in, so you don't read it. The difference here is that generally
when an e-mail arrives it's directed at you and the feeling is that you
must read it. The e-mails we get on the list are directed at everyone on
the list yet at no one in particular. So once again, if you have no
interest in it.....Junk it and go on with your life.

Also, it isnt a matter of liking the email or not. There are many
emails I get from newsgroups that I am not interested in pertaining to
subjects I either dont care about or have nothing to add to and I dont
read those. The specific point with your email is that it was a Hoax and
I was pointing that out and where you could in the future check those
kinds of emails. Did I ever comment that I did or didnt like your email?

Carl I think I have seen your name posted more than anyone else's ever
on this forum and this headline is horrible and offensive to me and
sickening when it returns hourly. This is a forum about nice cars, I
took no offence to it the first time but had seen it 2 years ago. Please
let this die.

Hey Mary T.
I don't think any of this should be taken as rude or harsh, I see it
as lighthearted horseplay. We are all different and percieve things
differently, everyone my self included like to sound off from time to
time. Hey this is a car club, we are here to help each other and have
fun whenever possible. No one is out to hurt anybody, wer'e supposed to
be friends who share a common interest. If some stupid remark hurts your
feelings (i mean no one in particular here) let it slide in one ear and
out the other it wasn't meant to hurt so even if something sounds harsh
we should all understand that it means no harm. It should all be taken
with a grain of salt.
All the best

I really didnt mean to sound harsh or anything if that is how you
percieve it, I was trying to helpfully point out that on those types of
emails in the future you might want to see if they are even legitamate
or not. Anyway, I was not meaning to be rude and if that how it came
across I apologize, just trying to be helpfull if you were new to the
online thing.

Hi Richard- Yup, I am taking all digital pictures, the car had a lot of
rust
in the trunk and front fenders. It is now rust free. The dash wood
(lots
of it) was totally gone and now it is all restored as well as new
upholstry
and carpet. It needs paint, I need more money; so, the painting will
have
to wait!!
Thanks for your interest,

I've used them before and they were great, I'm surprised that they
screwed
up your order. Not apologizing for them, but they have done good work in
the
past. Did you tell them what happened? I wonder if they think they sent
back
the "good" piece but the bad one got into the envelope??
Later,

I sent my shift indicator to a place called Palo Alto Speedometer in
Palo

pieces. So, a word of caution; don't use those people, they are awful.

OOOH, the "slush splash". I hear that up north it's part water but
contains
a lot of ferric oxide dissolved in it - half water, half dissolved car.
50 degrees?? Wow, that's surprising. You're going to be busy when all
that

In my opinion one should never rely on color, fonts, bold etc. in an
email.
There are just too many people who receive email as plain text (me

If there is something Dave knows about it is low mileage cars!
They are out there!
I found an 89 420sel with only 16.5k miles on it, and bought it.

Hey that ain't nuthin, ah jest read about a 1989 300 SL with 317 miles
on
the
clock that's (three-hundred-seventeen) miles, there's a big write-up
about
it in
Mercedes Enthusiast January 2006. The car was never registered it's an
absolute
virgin, the owner aparently purchased two of them. Anyway go to
http://www.mercedesenthusiast.co.uk and read for yourself. Mind you
that's
not
an SEC, so who needs it right, besides it's got the handle in the wrong
side.

the

Not so fast buddy boy!!! You only think you're done, but not I.
You screwed-up twice. I will address your lie filled E-mail below in a
minute,
but first, let me clarify the intial transgression before anyone in the
group buys
into your brand of B.S.
I was willing to let the Orlando incident go, because I figured I will
never deal
with you again anyway, nor would I ever have to see you again. But, you
had to
jump on Dick Spellman for making a simple and reasonable request of the
group in general. Not you!!! Dick is the quintessential MBCoupes member
and
I can say that from years of being a participant. He posts regularly and
consistantly
and attempts to answer anyone's question to the best of his technical
knowledge.
He takes his time, no matter what the topic or who poses the brain
riddle. He is
liberal with his know-how or hands-on experience and posts lengthy
replies which
are clear enough for even the newest and least knowledgable person to
put to
instant and productive use. In short, this site was set-up with people
like Dick in
mind. Share and impart information about our cars.
You, on the other hand post maybe once every six months and usually
something
irrelevant or juvenile. And you said 'look in the archives'. Yes, do
take a look, please.
It will verify what I'm saying here about your grand participation. Go
ahead, cut your
own throat and compare yourself to Dick. You're not not even in the same
universe.
And this from a person who cannot fix a high idle on his 560SEC, for two
years
running!! For those who don't know, your family owned a Benz dealership
and considering,
you know nothing about these cars. Why? Because you are only interested
in the
snob factor of driving one, not the marquee.
There was a member named Ken Buck on this list not long ago. He was
excellent
technically, also liberal with his knowledge and input and an all-around
nice guy.
I met him at the Las Vegas get-together. Precisely because of the kind
of behavior
you exhibited towards Dick, Ken has withdrawn from the list. A loss to
all, but you
could care less, because you care nothing about the others. And you
don't speak
for the group. Understand?
Now as to Orlando. You offered me that so called engine on many
occasions.
That should have been my first clue. Because if it was such a great
deal, you
would have put it up for the highest bidder. But, you tried to buddy up
to me on
many occasions, so I figured you were either being a good guy or just
trying to
help out a fellow member. Wow, was I ever wrong!!! Finally, at the last
meet your
loud-mouthed friend blurted-out $100. You agreed. So, I figured if the
'engine'
was anywhere near what you described, I could simply store it in my
car-shop
and would find some use for it later. So, I agreed. This was no
open-ended offer
as you describe. It was not lunch, it was not free, it was $100, period.
Liar. Also,
the first time we spoke about it, the mileage was 72k. Then it became
82k. Then
finally 90k. Liar again. So I picked-up my friend Larry, that Saturday
and we headed
for Orlando. When we arrived, some 3 hours later, you were nowhere to be
found.
So naturally we looked for the engine. We looked and looked, not
realizing that
we were right on top of it. The reason we couldn't find it, was because
this was
the biggest pile of shit for an engine, that either one of us had seen
in a long
time. (Larry is a car guy also, he works for Advanced). It was
completely corroded,
pitted with rust, holes in the metal, filthy dirty and had so many parts
missing,
it looked like a lawn-mower engine. I also looked at the 6.3 in the
car-port,
which you said I could have for free. Now I could see why. It was
despicable,
inside and out. To let a car like that go to pure junk, would be
expected of
someone living in a trailer-park. Hint.
We just shook our heads. Waiting for you, we took a tour through the
house
which looked like the car-port. After 30 minutes we headed out. For you
to say
that you were pissed, simply based on the fact that we were a no-show,
is just
a smoke-screen to hide the fact that your little stunt to have us haul
off your trash
didn't work. As another member told you, I'm not in the business of
hauling
garbage from your curb to mine. You now had to pay to have someone haul
off the 'engine' and the 6.3. That's why you were pissed. We have proven
beyond
a shadow of a doubt that we were there. As you were asked before, how
did we
end-up with the little gold colored flashlight, if we weren't there?
Answer that.
And how do I know it cost you money and the real reason? Larry drove
down
the following week-end by himself, hoping you would be there, moving
out. He
was going to kick your ass, because he HATES being called a liar.
Instead he
ran into the new owner, who told him all of this. And where were you,
when you
were suppoosed to meet us? Did you even drive down? We didn't see you.
Did
anyone else? And you are indignant? Who wasted who's time, you jerk. You
called 6 times? You called once, about an hour after we left, asking
where we
were. My cell captures numbers, as does every other cell. Proof beyond a
doubt
your a liar.
At least you're woman enough to admit that you slandered me. That much
I'll give you. The rest is pure fabrication, to endear yourself to the
group.
And to prove just what a self-centered idiot you are, you try to
belittle me for
showing up in a non-Benz set of wheels, when you at the exact same time
show-up in a Hummer!!! And this from a guy who pounds his chest at
having
7 Benzes. That's like Charles Manson sitting on Al Capone's jury. You
truly
are beyond arrogant and have no brains at all.
Anyone who befriends someone else or acts like their buddy, simply with
the
intent to take advantage of them or use them, is a piece of shit in my
book.
And that's exactly what you are. The others can draw their own
conclusion.
BTW. I related this story to 2 of your doc acquaintances up here and
they both
said 'don't ever do any business with that guy'. Don't forget, I do
loans for alot
of docs. If you didn't like what's in the box, don't open the lid. You
did.
Now do like Dick suggested, and crawl back into your hole and keep you
mouth
shut. Otherwise bring it on both barrels, and I'll be revealing even
more facts
about you. In case you forgot, I can help you unsubscribe. As you have
said,
you don't care about this group anyway.

Vance;
The only fuse menu I have is for the 1986 and lists #8 fuse (16amp) for
"Outside Heater mirror, Seat Belt extensioners, Anti-theft Alarm System,
Rear Cigar lighter". Maybe it was an early model when smoking cigars
(in
the rear) was still legal.
It also lists (in the same fuse box) in Relay "K" - "Auxiliary Fuse
Holder
(Anti-theft Alarm System)".
Check with your fusebox to confirm. I imagine yours is the same as the
one
(1991) that Dan attached. Perhaps Dan can confirm the relay layout
also.
Assuming that your after-market alarm system may have taken power from
the
same source, check to see if removing this (these?) would disable the
alarm
system's power and if so, then test for the intermittent power draws
again.
That may confirm if the alarm system (or wiring) is the culprit.
The only thing that makes the alarm system suspect is the fact that the
four
way flashers came on when the mysterious 6 amp draw occurred. I
understand
that even that is not consistent, right?
I suggested that only because it is very simple to check.
Likely the 1 amp fuse trick would identify which circuit is at fault.
Have
you tried that yet? Have you found (made?) 1 amp fuses?

Not so fast buddy boy!!! You only think you're done, but not I.
You screwed-up twice. I will address your lie filled E-mail below in a
minute, but first, let me clarify the intial transgression before anyone
in
the group buys into your brand of B.S.
I was willing to let the Orlando incident go, because I figured I will
never
deal with you again anyway, nor would I ever have to see you again. But,
you
had to jump on Dick Spellman for making a simple and reasonable request
of
the group in general. Not you!!! Dick is the quintessential MBCoupes
member
and I can say that from years of being a participant. He posts regularly
and
consistantly and attempts to answer anyone's question to the best of his
technical knowledge.
He takes his time, no matter what the topic or who poses the brain
riddle.
He is liberal with his know-how or hands-on experience and posts lengthy
replies which are clear enough for even the newest and least
knowledgable
person to put to instant and productive use. In short, this site was
set-up
with people like Dick in mind. Share and impart information about our
cars.
You, on the other hand post maybe once every six months and usually
something irrelevant or juvenile. And you said 'look in the archives'.
Yes,
do take a look, please.
It will verify what I'm saying here about your grand participation. Go
ahead, cut your own throat and compare yourself to Dick. You're not not
even
in the same universe.
And this from a person who cannot fix a high idle on his 560SEC, for two
years running!! For those who don't know, your family owned a Benz
dealership and considering, you know nothing about these cars. Why?
Because
you are only interested in the snob factor of driving one, not the
marquee.
There was a member named Ken Buck on this list not long ago. He was
excellent technically, also liberal with his knowledge and input and an
all-around nice guy.
I met him at the Las Vegas get-together. Precisely because of the kind
of
behavior you exhibited towards Dick, Ken has withdrawn from the list. A
loss
to all, but you could care less, because you care nothing about the
others.
And you don't speak for the group. Understand?
Now as to Orlando. You offered me that so called engine on many
occasions.
That should have been my first clue. Because if it was such a great
deal,
you would have put it up for the highest bidder. But, you tried to buddy
up
to me on many occasions, so I figured you were either being a good guy
or
just trying to help out a fellow member. Wow, was I ever wrong!!!
Finally,
at the last meet your loud-mouthed friend blurted-out $100. You agreed.
So,
I figured if the 'engine'
was anywhere near what you described, I could simply store it in my
car-shop
and would find some use for it later. So, I agreed. This was no
open-ended
offer as you describe. It was not lunch, it was not free, it was $100,
period. Liar. Also, the first time we spoke about it, the mileage was
72k.
Then it became 82k. Then finally 90k. Liar again. So I picked-up my
friend
Larry, that Saturday and we headed for Orlando. When we arrived, some 3
hours later, you were nowhere to be found.
So naturally we looked for the engine. We looked and looked, not
realizing
that we were right on top of it. The reason we couldn't find it, was
because
this was the biggest pile of shit for an engine, that either one of us
had
seen in a long time. (Larry is a car guy also, he works for Advanced).
It
was completely corroded, pitted with rust, holes in the metal, filthy
dirty
and had so many parts missing, it looked like a lawn-mower engine. I
also
looked at the 6.3 in the car-port, which you said I could have for free.
Now
I could see why. It was despicable, inside and out. To let a car like

go to pure junk, would be expected of someone living in a trailer-park.
Hint.
We just shook our heads. Waiting for you, we took a tour through the

Oh, I almost forgot to address the last part of your obnoxious
comment about my behavior at our meetings.
Gee, who asked you to hang-out with me? Sorry, I guess when
you have no personality, nothing to contribute and nothing
interesting to say, you must be around people who are different
from you. But, as would be expected from you, you turn on them
and then criticize them. It must be lonely out there, I haven't
heard anything about that from anyone else. If it were true, do
you really suppose that someone of Jack Middlebrooks' caliber
would be my room-mate at all of the meets? And drive me all
over Las Vegas, Kansas City, Chicago, etc. Pick me up at all
those airports. I don't think so.
Tell you what. They are anxiously awaiting your arrival at the
Hummer club. Or simply call 1-800-small-penis.

So, what's your point?
We get together more than any other part of
MBCoupes.
2, maybe 3 times a year. No sense racking-up the
miles
on a collector car, just to get from one town to
another.
Besides, 3 of the 4 I have are ticket magnets.

It's supposed to be 50's tomorrow and then rain for a day or two in the
50's
also!
Is that why so many cars around here have that reddish color spots on
them?

OOOH, the "slush splash". I hear that up north it's part water but
contains
a lot of ferric oxide dissolved in it - half water, half dissolved car.
50 degrees?? Wow, that's surprising. You're going to be busy when all
that
melt freezes again!
