Hi John,
What do you mean when you say we are right up there with the other guys? We are the top guys, once you own a Mercedes-Benz specially a 560 SEC, there's no looking back. I have regretfully been a GM mechanic for a great many years but not until I got involved with M-B cars did I really know what real quality is all about. Did you not notice how most of the other car manufacturers are trying to make their cars look like Mercedes cars.
I can't help you to locate your cars service history, if it's not stamped in the book or you have receipts you are probably S.O.L. Mine doesn't have much but being a mechanic I can tell whether my car has been taken care of or not. A stamp in the book sometimes is just that,a stamp in a book. The car can still be a s...b.. you won't really know till you own it for a while. Maybe some of the other member have any better ideas. I am sure you'll get a ton of replies none-the-less.
Anyway welcome to the club we're happy to have you along for the ride. I think I can speak for anyone here even though I am a rookie member myself.
Oh, by the way, did you notice that slide in the right rear of the gear selector slot. When you put your gear shifter all the way back and to the right Your SEC will eat a Corvette for breakfast, one of the same vintage mind you.
Carl, 560 SEC

I have a question for you guys. Is there anyone out there that can give me any information about how to find out my vehicles service history. I have some service paperwork, but I would like to find out more about it. My VIN # WDBCA45D5JA408596 and it is a 1988 black on tan 560. I have just started to drive this car a little after sitting it up on initial purchase. I am more of a Corvette guy and I was giving all of my time and attention to my Vettes and my bike, but becaus e of all of you, I have taken a good long look at the car and realize just how unique it is. I originally bought the vehicle with plans to resell it. It just kept me hooked on it each time I took it out for a little spin. I enjoy reading all of your posts even if I did not trim my posts when I did ask a question or gave a reply. :-)
I thought us Corvette guys were passionate about our vehicles, but you SEC boys a nd girls are right up there with the best of the car clubs, including Porsche, Ferrari, and some of the other groups I check out. Each time I read one of these emails, I wish I was not working so hard that I could not join in on the rally this year and I just love all the bad ass cars you all have. This is for everybody!
