[W126 Coupe] Rear Hat/speaker tray

I have also a 300 SD from 1984 and as you know the rear hat tray has space for a small speaker. The max. size is 4x6.
Does the hat tray from a later model, like a 1987 SEL fit my 1984 300 SD and has this 1987 SEL hat tray room for a larger, say 6 1/2 " speaker?
I just rebuild the sound system in my 1987 560 SEC. The CD/Receiver is an Eclipse and the speakers are Crystals. In the front a two way 4x6 with a soft dome tweeter and in the rear a 6.5" Kevlar with a titanium methal tweeter. This result is great and I want to do this same system in my 300 SD.
