[W126 Coupe] Metallic Noise

Dear fellow SEC enthusiasts:

My 1983 SEC model that has been re-engined with an 85 engine (Engine was simply obtained from a used source, it was not a rebuilt engine) is making a metallic tapping sound coming from the passenger side bank.  Seems to be coming from valve area.  My mechanic checked the valve lifters, shims and clearances and all seems to be in spec.  

The sound is a metallic rapping sound that changes with speed of engine.

Does anyone have any other ideas as to what it could be?

When I had the used engine installed, I had the Mercedes dealer replace the timing chain guides.
