[W126 Coupe] swapping idle speed controllers?

My only experience was the other way around... I had a 1983 380SEC which nobody could get to idle properly. Turns out someone had installed an earlier (002 545 01 32) control module. I switched to the proper spec 33 32 and it ran perfectly.
I don't know if that actually answers your question.
