F.Y.I. If you are pre "86" just grab a 3.07 out of a 450 SEL pre "80"
and
Bolt it right end. Easy deal

Subject: RE: [W126 Coupe] Rear diff?
FYI, my 3.07 is a limited slip unit, built in a standard W126 2.47
housing.
Barry Taylor makes them, for $3500. It is essentially a new unit, with
new
bearings in it, a new 3.07 ring and pinion, using a custom made set of
bolts
to put the ring gear in there (I ordered those bolts and they were
EXPENSIVE), and new limited slip clutch pack in it.
Externally, it is identical to the stock differential in an SEC so it is
just a "bolt-in" upgrade. It made a BIG difference in drivability and
the
car is much more fun now. Yep, they are expensive but there is a lot of
work
and dollars required to get the parts together and make one of these
correctly.
By the way, that's the differential that I'm going to be using with the
LS6
and don't expect any problems when I double the horsepower in the car.
Later,
Mike R.
