Doug, Used cars are very hard to sell. Give him some time to find out all the flaky people he has to tolerate. Older and complicated Mercedes scare potential buyers and with odometer being out the title must reflect not actual mileage which will lower the value.I would not pay more that $3K which is market value. There is just not much of a market this type of car. Nobodywill loan money for that value yet $3K is hard for people to get together. Tell him you don't want to be offensive but the most you could pay is what a wholesaler would give him which is about $2500. Ask him if he has tried Carmax and what did they offer.Leave him your name and phone and he will call you. Be patient and stand by your offer. If I am wrong and it gets gone then the next one will be twice as nice for same money. The used car market is more desperate than ever. Cash is King when you have it they want it and to be rid of their burden of dealing with "The General Public" a horror show to be sure. I hope I have not offended anyone on the list about our car values as they do vary but facts are cruel. Just ask the man I bought my last SEC from last Summer. I made him an offer and each week offered $500 less. Three weeks later and $1500 less he happily agreed. Jim Alexander
