Hi Demetre:

I'd pull the cylinder head covers and check the condition of your cam
oiler tubes (visibly dislodged, cracked, broken). Check each of the
cams for galling or scoring. Hard to see the rocker arm conditions
without removal so don't bother. Listen briefly (you'll be pushing oil
over the sides of the cylinder head after a time so briefly means
briefly) for and identify the cylinder with the ticking noise. It could
just be the hydraulic compensator. Another quick check where you are
blowing smoke is a compression test followed by a leak down test to see
if you have a valve seal/guide or lower end problems. What viscosity
grade oil are you running? What's the oil change interval? What's the
mileage on the engine?

Regards,

Dick
