Fuses man, fuses ! (and fusible links )
Go slow, Get a continuity tester and keep checking for
shorts to ground due to that cooked wire.
Don't be embarrassed, I think we've all fried a wire here or there.
It's just part of the 'experience'

Check your ignition control module. The little black block on the front of
the wheel well by the coil.
