[W126 Coupe] Abrupt shifting from 4th to 3rd

Hi Guys,

Thank you for welcoming me and my 560SEC with the steering wheel on  
the "wrong" side :-) I am still on cloud nine about driving this  
wonderful car, and there is only on real problem that concerns me:  
Gearshifting (up and down) between first and third, and up to fourth,  
is impressively smooth, even under very hard driving. But shifting  
down from fourth back to third, especially under load (say, when I  
put my foot down at say 60mph) is incredibly abrupt, it shoves in  
with a loud, sudden thump - to the point of alarming passengers.

I wanted to know if this is normal? Or, what it could be? To repeat,  
all other gears (up and down) are fantastic, but from 4 -> 3 is  
alarmingly abrupt.
