Hi Cal:
You'll be happier with a new manifold hose (new ones come with the
updated vapor barrier). You will also need the receiver/dryer, o-rings,
Nylog sealant, PAG 150 oil (assumes you are running R-134 and have the
Nippo compressor), and either of the (2) sensor/switches that you break
while removing from the old receiver/dryer (preferably none). All the
AC guys recommend changing the expansion valve (got one if you are so
inclined) but, I've never done one where they are a real PIA to get at
in the driver's foot well along side the air distribution box on the
126's. I'd check with Jonathan or Rusty for the best prices on the MB
gear (hose, r/d).
If you are doing the R12 to R134 conversion for the first time, I'd look
at replacing the oil in the compressor (likely 4 oz.) plus the 2oz
required for the receiver/dryer replacement and evacuating the entire
system before dropping the required volume of refrigerant in the
system. I pick up the 134 schrader adapters for high & low side and a
small amount of dye to detect future leaks when doing each of my
conversions. If you need a link to a great supplier of AC gear and
know-how I'd try Arizona Air they do it all day long and have an
Internet store. Good prices on the vac pumps & guages too.
I've done 3 existing Nippo's and 1 NEW Harrison (AC Delco) A-6 on
Mercedes. All run R-134 and I have absolutely no problems staying cool
in any of them including the black SEC in the 95 + sun/heat when it arrives.
Regards,
Dick
