Sam,
You are the man in my book! Cannot tell you how many jaws drop as I drive down the road. I thought my XJR and my Vette had curb appeal, but this SEC might just have them all licked. I don't know how it will fare after I add the Lambo doors to my 98 Vette coupe. I guess you have experienced all of this since we have nearly identical cars. I will try to get that rubber grommet too because I noticed it is cracked and I don't want the leakage you spoke of either. The SEC looks fantastic though. I find myself happy with every little thing that I fix or repair now.
Sincerely,
John

Way to go John!
That's one of the easiest and most rewarding fixes on these cars,
although, every fix on an SEC is rewarding... The rubber grommet at the
base of the antenna is always a good inexpensive replacement too, as
they dry out/crack in time and are a source of water getting into the
trunk. I always like to keep a spare mast around as I've mangled two of
them already going through a car wash. I know I should be flogged going
through an automatic car wash!
You'll be glad you kept this car!
BTW, how are the AMG Monoblock wheels working out for you?
Sam,
Chicago, 88' 560 SEC

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to say thanks to all that wrote about how easy it was
to replace the antenna mast. It took me all of 8 minutes by myself to
replace it and I got the teeth to align on my first try. I felt like I
had done it a thousand times even before turning a screw. And to think
I was going to sell this car last year for $4500 to a co worker! I am
glad I took time to read your e-mails and drive the damn thing further
than just home from the auction. Good thing I stored it first and then
gave it some real thought!
Sincerely,
John C.

Easy fix. Buy the mast from the dealer, the package has the
instructions printed on it.
