Thanks, Vance,
but I only have the unit that came with the car. The number is on a label stuck to the top of the EPROM.
I have since found that the EZL unit is also an incorrect update, as is the fuel distributor. I doubt that there would be much difference between the fuel distributors, but the EZL may be different - to cope with the higher compression.
I'm going to have the compression checked and make sure that it is actually the high compression version. It may be possible that only the high performance exhaust is new - hard to follow the trail when so many bits have been changed...
Robert
Robert,
Do you actually have both the original unit and the replacement unit, presumably each one with each of these EPROM's in them? If so, it is highly likely that these numbers are as you mention just due to the program number itself. Are these numbers on a label on each Eprom? Again if so, if you could lift the label and read the actual info printed directly onto the Eprom itself, the chances are they are identical. I know it's a lot of if's and butt's here, but these EPROM's are normally inserted into a socket. If all of the above is correct, you could just swap out the two EPROM's and give it a try. Providing the EPROM's themselves are the same (not the program) you can't do any harm trying, as they only contain software and as long as the physical electrical contacts will be the same (which they will be if the same type of EPROM, it could be worth a try.
Regards,
Vance.
