[W126 Coupe] and speaking of tires...

Paul,
I just recently switched to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, 245-40-18 all
around.
Awesome tire in my opinion... Great wet, dry traction and very smooth
and quiet...
I understand it also has decent snow traction and tread wear compared to
a Bridgestone Pole Position S-03's which are absolutely worthless in
just a few snow flakes as I found out to my surprise last winter. Not
that I drive my car in the snow, but I did not expect the tires to be
that worthless in a minor snow flurry.
The Michelins are also rounder in the cross section at the tread
shoulders than the S-03's. This will make them better suited for the SEC
suspension geometry related to uneven tread wear if you decide to go
with a wider tire in the rear. 275-35-18 is the widest I would go for
the rear. Most list members would agree based on previous posts.

My Lorinsers do have spacers and I have uneven wear, but I'm
considering more expensive tires to see whether that's the problem. I
would recommend 17" rather than 18" tires/wheels. I believe it would
be the best compromise in handling, look, etc. The tires are lasting
more than 10,000 miles, though.
Haven't yet had recommendations on what brand of large tires other
members are happy with.
